Had 2 Model X so far. Both Midnight Grey, one was a 6 seater with white interior, the later a 7 on black. Mid last year I put a deposit for the refresh X and got a bit tired of the changes on the delivery dates with no real ETA. Early this year I sold my 2020 X and special ordered a 2022 BMW X7 M50i. Built it exactly like I wanted, checked almost all the boxes and got it in less than 2 months.

Car is gorgeous inside and out and it has a bunch of features I didn’t have in my Teslas. Engine is pretty powerful at 530 HP and with a $700 tune it bumps another 100 HP for 0-60 in 4 sec, from the official 4.5.

Got color correction, ppf ceramic coat, best tint and the aftermarket aero kit. Spent a few Gs on the process.

Life is good except for the trips to the gas station. 93 at 12-13 Mpg city sucks. Highway is “acceptable” at 21-22 for such a big vehicle.

This Sunday I got a text from Tesla that my refresh will be ready in 2 weeks. Almost the same vehicle. Midnight Grey, 7 seats, white interior. Now I’m thinking… Things I miss on my Tesla:

* not having a gas bill. I always felt like I was driving for free.
* auto pilot is much better on the Tesla. In city driving the BMW gets lost at intersections when there are no lines on the road.
* awesome “dashcams” with sentry mode.
* great sound quality with the built-in streaming like Sirius.
* self presenting/closing doors.
* yes, I did like the FWD too!
* huge windshield.

Things I like about the BMW:
* fit and finish are perfect.
* really looks like a luxury vehicle. I’m not too much into the simplistic (cost savings) approach from Tesla.
* way more space inside all the way to the 3rd row.
* cooled and massage seats.
* huge pano roof with mood lights and “stars”.
* rear steering, makes the car feels smaller on turns.
* huge network in case I have a problem.
* laser “smart” headlights. I removed the limitation for US models, so it works 100% (anti-dazzle).
* Big HUD with lots of info including navigation.

Soooo… Considering I can buy a $122k (today’s price) vehicle for $98k, seems a good deal. But I just bought one for $120k, spent $4k on stuff already mentioned. Not sure for how much and how quick I could sell the BMW if I decide to take the Tesla.

Another option is to sell my allocation, pocket some money and enjoy the BMW for a but, without having a 3rd car that will look almost the same as the previous ones.

Ideas? Suggestions?
